  • 300 g all-purpose flour
  • 60 g granulated sugar
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 220 g unsalted butter (cold)
  • 110 g water
  • 1 kg apples (Pink Lady, Royal Gala, or Fuji)
  • 75 g unsalted butter (for filling)
  • 190 g brown sugar
  • 1¼ tsp ground cinnamon
  • 1¼ tbsp cornstarch
  • Vanilla ice cream (for serving)

Instructions

  1. Prepare the crust by mixing flour, sugar, and salt in a bowl. Cut in cold butter until crumbly, then add cold water to form dough. Chill for at least 30 minutes.
  2. Peel and slice apples, tossing them with lemon juice. In a pan, melt butter and combine with apples, brown sugar, cinnamon, cornstarch, salt, and water. Cook until softened.
  3. Roll out chilled dough and place it in your pie dish. Fill with apple mixture and top with another layer of crust.
  4. Preheat oven to 180°C (350°F). Brush the crust with egg wash and sprinkle brown sugar on top. Bake for about 80 minutes until golden brown.
  5. Let cool slightly before serving each slice topped with vanilla ice cream.
