Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 cup lukewarm milk
  • 6 tablespoons unsalted butter
  • ½ cup granulated sugar
  • 4 ½5 cups all-purpose flour
  • 2 ¼ teaspoons instant yeast
  • 1 ½ teaspoons salt
  • ½ cup mashed banana
  • 4 tablespoons unsalted butter (for filling)
  • ½ cup packed light brown sugar
  • 1 tablespoon cinnamon
  • 2 large bananas (thinly sliced)
  • ¼ cup heavy cream (for frosting)
  • 4 ounces cream cheese
  • 4 tablespoons unsalted butter (for frosting)
  • 1 ½ cups powdered sugar
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract

Instructions

  1. Warm milk in a bowl until lukewarm. Combine with melted butter and granulated sugar; sprinkle in yeast and let sit until frothy.
  2. Add salt and gradually mix in flour until a soft dough forms. Knead for about five minutes until smooth.
  3. Place dough in a greased bowl, cover, and let rise in a warm spot for about an hour or until doubled in size.
  4. Roll out the dough into a rectangle, spread softened butter over it, then sprinkle brown sugar, cinnamon, and sliced bananas evenly.
  5. Roll the dough tightly from one long side to the other; slice into equal pieces and place in a greased baking dish.
  6. Cover and let rise again while preheating the oven to 350°F (175°C). Pour warmed heavy cream over rolls before baking.
  7. Bake for about 35 minutes until golden brown. Prepare frosting by mixing softened cream cheese with butter, then add powdered sugar and vanilla.
  8. Allow rolls to cool slightly before drizzling with frosting.
