Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 cups warm water (about 110℉)
  • 2 tsp active dry yeast
  • 1 tsp white granulated sugar
  • 4 cups bread flour
  • 1 1/2 tsp salt
  • 1 tbsp olive oil
  • 2 tbsp unsalted butter (melted)
  • 6 tbsp brown butter
  • 1/3 cup light brown sugar
  • 2 tsp cinnamon
  • 1 cup powdered sugar (sifted)
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • 2 1/2 tbsp milk

Instructions

  1. Activate the yeast by mixing warm water and sugar in a bowl; sprinkle yeast on top and let sit for 10-15 minutes until foamy.
  2. In a large bowl, whisk flour and salt, then add the yeast mixture and olive oil. Stir until a sticky dough forms.
  3. Lightly coat the dough with olive oil and cover it; refrigerate for at least 12 hours for the first rise.
  4. Grease a baking pan and melt butter in it. Deflate the dough gently and transfer it to the pan; let it rise in a warm spot for about 1½ to 2 hours.
  5. Prepare brown butter by melting unsalted butter over medium heat until golden-brown and nutty; mix with brown sugar and cinnamon.
  6. Preheat the oven to 450℉; dimple the risen dough, drizzle with cinnamon topping, and bake for about 20-25 minutes until golden.
  7. Cool slightly before drizzling with icing made from powdered sugar, milk, and vanilla extract.
