  • 1 sheet puff pastry, thawed
  • 6 oz almond paste
  • 2 tbsp unsalted butter, softened
  • 2 tbsp granulated sugar
  • 1 large egg, beaten (divided)
  • 1/4 cup sliced almonds
  • Powdered sugar for dusting

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 400°F (200°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  2. Unroll the thawed puff pastry onto the prepared baking sheet.
  3. In a bowl, mix almond paste, softened butter, granulated sugar, and half of the beaten egg until smooth.
  4. Spread the filling down the center third of the puff pastry.
  5. Cut diagonal strips on both sides of the pastry and fold them over the filling in an alternating pattern.
  6. Brush the top with remaining beaten egg and sprinkle with sliced almonds.
  7. Bake for 20-25 minutes until golden brown.
  8. Cool slightly and dust with powdered sugar before serving.
