- 2 cups sharp cheddar cheese, shredded
- 2 cups whole milk
- 4 tbsp unsalted butter
- 2 tbsp all-purpose flour
- 1 cup panko bread crumbs
- Cook the elbow macaroni in boiling salted water until al dente (about 7-8 minutes). Drain and set aside.
- In a saucepan over medium heat, melt the butter. Whisk in the flour until smooth and cook for about 1 minute.
- Gradually add milk while whisking constantly until the mixture thickens slightly.
