  • 8 oz elbow macaroni
  • 2 cups sharp cheddar cheese, shredded
  • 2 cups whole milk
  • 4 tbsp unsalted butter
  • 2 tbsp all-purpose flour
  • 1 cup panko bread crumbs

Instructions

  1. Cook the elbow macaroni in boiling salted water until al dente (about 7-8 minutes). Drain and set aside.
  2. In a saucepan over medium heat, melt the butter. Whisk in the flour until smooth and cook for about 1 minute.
  3. Gradually add milk while whisking constantly until the mixture thickens slightly.
