  • 4 cups powdered sugar (for frosting)
  • 1/4 cup brown sugar, packed (for frosting)
  • 1/4 cup unsalted butter, softened (for frosting)
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract (for frosting)

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease a 9×13-inch baking pan.
  2. In a bowl, mix together the yellow cake mix, egg, melted butter, pumpkin puree, and vanilla extract until combined.
  3. In another bowl, beat cream cheese with eggs, vanilla extract, remaining pumpkin puree, melted butter, and spices until smooth.
  4. Pour half of the cake batter into the prepared pan, spread the cream cheese filling on top, and then add the remaining cake batter.
  5. Bake for 40-45 minutes or until golden brown and set. Let cool completely before frosting.
  6. For frosting: Mix softened cream cheese with unsalted butter and brown sugar until creamy; gradually add powdered sugar and vanilla extract.
