Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 lb lean ground beef (80/20 blend)
  • 1/2 cup fresh breadcrumbs
  • 1 medium onion, finely chopped
  • 1 cup low-sodium beef broth
  • 1 tsp garlic powder
  • 1 tbsp soy sauce
  • 1 cup sliced mushrooms (optional)
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • 2 tbsp olive oil

Instructions

  1. In a mixing bowl, combine ground beef, breadcrumbs, chopped onion, Worcestershire sauce, garlic powder, salt, and pepper. Mix gently until just combined.
  2. Shape the mixture into oval patties about 1 inch thick.
  3. Heat olive oil in a skillet over medium-high heat. Sear the patties until browned on both sides (about 4 minutes each). Remove from skillet and set aside.
  4. In the same skillet, add mushrooms if using; cook until softened. Pour in beef broth and soy sauce while scraping up any browned bits from the skillet.
  5. Bring to a simmer; stir in cornstarch mixed with cold water to thicken the gravy.
  6. Return patties to the skillet and simmer for 5-10 minutes until heated through.
