  • 2 tablespoons vegetable oil
  • 1 large onion, sliced
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 tablespoon grated fresh ginger
  • 2 tablespoons soy sauce
  • 2 tablespoons hoisin sauce
  • 2 tablespoons rice vinegar
  • 1 tablespoon cornstarch

Instructions

  1. In a bowl, mix soy sauce, hoisin sauce, ginger, garlic, and vegetable oil. Add beef strips and marinate for 10-15 minutes.
  2. Heat one tablespoon of vegetable oil in a skillet over medium heat. Sauté sliced onions until soft and caramelized; season with salt and pepper.
  3. In the same skillet, increase heat to high and add marinated beef in a single layer. Stir-fry for about 2-3 minutes until browned.
  4. Whisk together remaining soy sauce, rice vinegar, and cornstarch in a small bowl. Pour over beef in the skillet and simmer until thickened.
  5. Add sautéed onions back into the pan; stir to combine. Serve hot over rice or noodles.
