  • 1/4 cup milk
  • 1/2 pound ground beef
  • 1/2 small onion (finely grated or minced)
  • 1 large egg
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon allspice
  • 1/4 teaspoon nutmeg
  • 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
  • 2 tablespoons butter
  • 2 tablespoons all-purpose flour
  • 2 cups beef broth
  • 1/2 cup heavy cream
  • 1 tablespoon soy sauce

Instructions

  1. In a large bowl, combine breadcrumbs and milk; let soak for 5 minutes.
  2. Add ground beef, grated onion, egg, salt, allspice, nutmeg, and black pepper; mix gently.
  3. Roll mixture into 1-inch meatballs and place on a baking sheet.

  5. Remove meatballs and prepare gravy in the same skillet by whisking flour into remaining butter until smooth. Gradually add beef broth, heavy cream, and soy sauce; simmer until thickened.
