  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1/2 cup sour cream
  • 2 cups finely chopped apples (preferably Granny Smith)
  • 1 tablespoon turbinado sugar (for topping)

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease a 9×5-inch loaf pan.
  2. In a medium bowl, whisk together flour, baking soda, salt, cinnamon, nutmeg, and cloves.
  3. Cream together the softened butter and granulated sugar until light and fluffy.
  4. Add eggs one at a time, mixing well after each addition. Stir in vanilla extract.
  5. Gradually mix in dry ingredients with sour cream, starting and ending with dry ingredients.
  6. Fold in chopped apples gently.
  7. Pour batter into prepared pan and sprinkle turbinado sugar on top.
  8. Bake for 50-60 minutes or until a toothpick comes out clean. Allow it to cool before slicing.
